![]() ![]() ![]() If not, then how can what the environment look like matter when you're blasting through dungeons and creeps like no one's business? the fact of the matter is that diablo 3 offers very little in terms of making the player feel in danger because of how powerful they are off the bat, and i think that's way more important before discussing the color palette of the game. the game itself has to do some work too, right? did you guys ever honestly feel threatened in diablo3, did anything really make you think (woah maybe i shouldn't go in there.) you when you first started playing? did you ever fear for the safety of your character? What you guys are missing is that the environment and color palette can only do so much to give off a feeling. There are a ton of cartoons or games that are vividly colored but can feel weird or dark or whatever. The old disney sleeping beauty was colorful, but definitely had an air of darkness to it. Coraline is a cartoony, vividly colored stop motion animation that can be incredibly creepy and feel "dark".
